Marcela Alava is a dynamic and effective executive who has held several global leadership roles in IT and excels in strategy and execution. As Monarch Landscape Companies’ Chief Information Officer, Ms. Alava was responsible for developing and executing the organization’s technology, data, security and digital strategy. In her role, Ms. Alava has transformed the company within an industry that has historically run on legacy applications, disparate siloed systems, spreadsheets and paper. She has led the executive team to establish a future state operating model and led the charge to implement a strategic technical architecture and project roadmap.
She has more than 23 years of experience in the Information Technology realm and has a broad foundational business base within the entertainment industry, having held various management and leadership roles in accounting, customer service, sales, operations, and IT. Her experience in tactical execution, management processes, and strategic planning has allowed her to helm many strategic initiatives, company projects, startups, and departments.
In her spare time, Ms. Alava serves on the all-volunteer board of the LMU Latino Alumni Association. She is on the Advisory Board and active mentor for STEM Advantage, a non-profit furthering the scholarship, mentorship and internship of minority students within the Information Technology space. She has also been the past president and a board member of the non-profit California Hispanic Corporate Council (CHCCLI) to promote Latino leadership development and advancement in the corporate, government, and nonprofit sectors.
